House Rules

Welcome! We want you to relax, enjoy the mountains, and feel at home during your stay. A few simple guidelines help us keep the property safe, comfortable, and enjoyable for you, our neighbors, future guests, and the wildlife that calls this area home. ________________________________________ 🐻 Black Bears & Wildlife Black bears live throughout the Smoky Mountains and regularly travel through this property. Seeing one can be an incredible part of your visit, but please remember that bears are wild animals. Lock your car doors. Black bears often open car doors and will frequently stop by and check. Never feed a bear or other wildlife. Feeding bears is dangerous for both people and bears and can cause bears to lose their natural fear of humans. Keep your distance. Never approach, follow, surround, corner, or attempt to take a close-up photo with a bear. Give bears plenty of room and always provide them with a clear path to leave. Never allow children to approach wildlife. Children should be supervised outdoors when bears are present or have recently been seen nearby. Keep pets close. Dogs should be leashed outdoors. Never allow a pet to chase, bark at, or approach a bear. Do not leave food or trash outside. Food, garbage, pet food, coolers, grills, and other scented items can attract bears. Please bring food and coolers inside when you're finished with them and place all garbage in the designated secured trash area. Never intentionally attract a bear for a better view or photo. This includes leaving out food or treats. If You See a Bear If the bear is simply passing through at a distance, give it space and allow it to leave on its own. Enjoy the sight from inside the cabin or another safe location. If you encounter a bear while outside, do not run. Stay calm, keep children and pets with you, slowly increase your distance, and give the bear an escape route. Never get between a mother and her cubs. If a bear approaches you or behaves aggressively, make yourself appear larger, make noise, and move toward a secure building or vehicle when possible. Do not climb a tree to escape a black bear. Black bears are excellent climbers. For an immediate emergency or dangerous wildlife encounter, call 911. ________________________________________ 🐕 Pets We love welcoming pets! Please clean up after your pet and dispose of waste properly. Do not leave pet food, treats, food bowls containing food, or bags of pet food outside. Please don't allow pets onto furniture or bedding if they are muddy or wet. ________________________________________ 🚭 Smoking & Vaping No smoking or vaping inside the cabin. If you smoke outside, please dispose of cigarette butts completely and safely. Never discard cigarettes or other smoking materials on the ground or in wooded areas because of wildfire risk. ________________________________________ 🔒 When You Leave When leaving the cabin, even for a short trip, please: • Close and lock exterior doors. • Close accessible windows. • Turn off unnecessary lights and appliances. • Make sure food and trash are not left outside. ________________________________________ 🌲 Respect the Mountains Part of what makes this property special is sharing the land with the wildlife and forests of the Smoky Mountains. Please don't disturb wildlife, remove plants, damage trees, or leave trash on the property. Never carve, nail, screw, or attach anything to trees. Leave the property—and the mountains—as beautiful as you found them. ________________________________________ ❤️ Most Importantly: Enjoy Your Stay Explore, relax, watch for wildlife, enjoy the views, and make some memories. If something at the cabin isn't working correctly or you have a question during your stay, please contact us. We'd much rather know about a problem while you're here so we have the opportunity to help.
